Operated by Commonwealth Bank, the program aims to teach our children about money management and the importance of saving. The program offers fun rewards to encourage saving behaviour as well as providing bonus interest when children make a deposit but no withdrawals in a month. It also generates financial benefits for the school via commission on monies deposited and a fee for every account activated. For every deposit made at school, no matter how big or small, students will receive a Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for an exclusive School Banking reward item in recognition of their continued savings behaviour.
Our school earns 5% commission on every deposit made (to a maximum of $10 per individual deposit).
How To Get Your Child Started?
It is easy to get started all you need to do is set your child up with a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account. You can do this in one of FOUR ways:
- ONLINE – If you are an existing Commonwealth Bank customer, log into your NetBank, go to the ‘Offers and Apply’ tab, then click ‘Accounts’ and ‘Youthsaver and School Banking’. From there you’ll just need to select your child’s school, and have their birth certificate on hand for ID purposes.
- IN BRANCH – Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for you and your child (i.e. Driver’s License with photo ID for you, and Birth Certificate for you child). The Ballajura Branch is ready and waiting for students to open accounts. It usually takes about 15 minutes to set up an account for your child.
- APPLICATION FORM – download one of the application forms from Commonwealth Bank school banking, complete in full and return it to your School Banking Co-ordinator. Please note, Youthsaver account opening may take up to 10 days once the form has been received.
- OVER THE PHONE – call 13 2221 to open an account over the phone.
